Belmont General Practice Clinic - the sister clinic to Morningside General Practice Clinic - opened at 185 Belmont Road, Belmont on the 1st of February 2012, in order to create a friendly, local practice on the Eastside. Belmont General Practice Clinic is linked to Morningside, to create an easy and secure option for patients to go between both practices.
Every effort will be made to accommodate your preferred time and G.P. Longer consultations are available on request. Please ask our receptionists if you require some extra time or are unsure how long you should book for. We ask that a double appointment be made for complex problems and Insurance and Employment Medicals. Some of our Doctors require longer appointments for new patients. Please also book an appointment for each family member that needs to be seen.
Reception staff will attempt to contact you if there is any unforeseen delay or the doctor has been called away. Every effort is made to keep as close to scheduled appointment times as possible. Variation occurs when it becomes necessary to fit in urgent cases between normal appointments. We apologise for delays however suggest that you phone ahead of your appointment time to see how your G.P. is running.
Emergencies will always be given priority and our reception staff will attempt to contact you or update you on the progress of your scheduled appointment
Interpreter services are available if required. Please let us know when you make an appointment and we can organise this for you.
Culturally appropriate care
To assist with disease prevention and to deliver culturally appropriate care, please advise your GP of your cultural background
Prescriptions, referrals and medical certificates
These will not be issued without a consultation. Please discuss this with your doctor if you have any concerns. A fee will be charged for all prescriptions or referrals that are issued outside of a consultation and these are in case of emergency only - not routinely.
Failing to attend for a scheduled appointment may result in a fee being charged. Please notify us at least an hour prior to your scheduled appointment time if you are unable to attend so we may allocate the time to another patient.
Drugs of Dependence
Morningside and Belmont General Practices have a policy of not prescribing drugs of dependence (including Endone, Oxycontin, Morphine, Codeine and Benzodiazepines) at your first appointment or by request over the phone, without a proper assessment or over the long term. We prefer safer and better options.
After Hours Care
This practice has an arrangement with National Home Doctor Service, which provides care for patients of this practice outside of normal consulting hours. Please call 13 SICK (13 7425) should you require out-of-hours assistance, or ask reception if you would like more information. Their website is www.homedoctor.com.au
This practice has a no smoking policy and thanks our patients for consuming all drinks and food outside the practice, to keep up with health standards.
